The quick answer: choose a balloon arch for colour, fun and the most impact per dollar: birthdays, baby showers, baptisms and brand events. Choose a floral arch for ceremonies, engagements and anywhere you want soft, romantic texture. Faux-floral arches cost less than fresh, and every arch is quoted to your size and palette.
Cost: what drives the price of each arch
Both styles come in a range of sizes, and every quote includes design, delivery, setup and takedown within 35 km of Edmonton.
- Balloon half arch. A curved garland that frames one side of a backdrop, doorway or cake table.
- Organic balloon arch, 8×8 ft. About 24 ft of garland in mixed balloon sizes, forming a full frame.
- Grand balloon installation, 20 ft and up. Entrance arches, stage frames and statement walls.
- Styled faux-floral ceremony arch. Premium faux blooms, greenery and draped fabric on an arch frame.
- Fresh-floral arch. Real blooms chosen for your date and your palette.
Why does fresh cost more? Fresh flowers are bought for one event, conditioned, arranged on site and can't be used again. Faux florals are an investment we reuse from event to event, which keeps their price down, and they never wilt.
Look and feel
A balloon arch is all about colour and shape. Organic garlands mix small, medium and large balloons, so the arch looks full and sculptural rather than like a row of identical spheres. We can match almost any palette, including brand colours, in finishes from soft matte pastels to pearl and chrome. The effect is joyful, modern and bold.
A floral arch is about texture and softness. Blooms, greenery and chiffon catch the light gently and look beautiful in natural light. The effect is romantic and timeless, which is why floral arches lead at wedding ceremonies. Fresh florals add scent and close-up detail. Good faux florals look real from a few steps away and in photos.
Durability: how long each one lasts
Indoors at a steady room temperature, an air-filled balloon arch looks its best for the whole event and usually holds up well for a day or two after. Direct sun is the enemy: UV light oxidizes latex and gives it a cloudy, velvety finish within hours, and heat makes balloons expand and pop.
Fresh florals are at their best on the day. Delicate blooms like hydrangea start to droop within hours in a warm room, while roses and sturdy greenery last longer. Faux florals are the most durable of all, unbothered by heat, sun or a long day.
Weather: the Edmonton factor
For an outdoor arch, Edmonton's weather decides more than taste does. The sun is strong at our altitude, the wind can pick up in minutes, summer brings hail, and a chinook can swing the temperature by 20 degrees in a day.
- Wind is the biggest risk for balloons. A garland catches wind like a sail, so an outdoor balloon arch needs solid anchoring. On a very windy day we may recommend moving it inside.
- Heat and direct sun pop and dull balloons. A shaded spot and an install close to start time both help.
- Cold shrinks air-filled balloons slightly and makes them wrinkle, and balloons carried from a cold car into a warm room can fog up. For winter events, indoor installs work best.
- Fresh flowers wilt in heat and bruise in hail. Faux florals cope with weather better than either, though any arch outdoors needs to be weighted.
Our honest advice for an outdoor ceremony: choose florals (faux holds up best) and always plan an indoor backup spot. Weather affects balloons outside, so we can't guarantee how long they'll last outdoors, and our booking terms say so plainly.

Choosing by budget
- Smaller budgets: a balloon half arch or a styled faux-floral arch.
- Mid-range: a full 8×8 ft organic balloon arch or a fresh-floral arch.
- Statement budgets: a grand balloon installation of 20 ft or more, or a floral arch paired with a flower wall or a floral pillar pair.
- Tell us your budget on the booking form and we'll suggest the best arch for it.
Planning a Saturday wedding between May and October? Those dates carry a higher minimum order, so the arch usually sits inside a larger package.
Can't decide? Mix them
Some of the prettiest arches are hybrids: an organic balloon garland in soft neutrals with faux florals and eucalyptus tucked into the curve. You get the volume of balloons with the texture of flowers. Hybrids are custom designs. Send us your inspiration photos and we'll quote yours.
Four questions to settle it
- Indoors or outside? Outside, lean floral, and faux for durability.
- What's the mood? Playful and bright points to balloons; romantic and soft points to florals.
- Does a colour need to match exactly? A logo, a dress or a cake? Balloons win on colour matching.
- Who's coming? If a guest has a latex allergy, or lots of little ones will be running around, choose florals or keep balloons up high.
Still torn? Tell us about your event through the booking form and we'll suggest the option that fits your venue, season and budget.
