The short answer: decor costs depend on how much of the room you want styled, what it's made of, and when and where your event is. A single backdrop for a birthday and a full-room wedding with a draped ceiling are very different jobs. The fastest way to a real number is to send us your date, venue and a few inspiration photos. We reply within 24 hours with ideas and a clear, itemized quote.
Why every decor quote is custom
No two events are the same size, in the same room or on the same kind of day. A quote built around your guest count, venue and vision is more accurate than any menu, and it means you only pay for what your celebration actually needs.
Every StarHaus Décor quote includes:
- Design: we plan colours, sizing and placement with you, and you approve a digital mockup once you book.
- Delivery to your venue, anywhere within 35 km of Edmonton.
- Setup, finished before your guests arrive (usually 2 to 4 hours ahead).
- Takedown and pickup after your event.
The seven things that shape your quote
1. How much of the room you style
One statement backdrop, a styled sweetheart table, or the whole room from entrance to ceiling? Most quotes start with the one or two pieces that matter most to you, then build out from there.
2. Size and quantity
Decor scales: feet of garland, number of tables, width of a backdrop. Twenty centrepieces cost more than ten, and a 20 ft balloon installation is a bigger build than a 10 ft garland. Your quote lists each piece and its quantity, so you can adjust any line.
3. Fresh or faux florals
Fresh flowers are bought for your date, conditioned and arranged by hand, and they can't be reused, so they cost more. Good faux florals photograph beautifully and won't wilt in a warm hall in July. Plenty of couples mix the two: fresh where guests look closest, faux everywhere else.
4. Your venue
Ceiling height, loading access, stairs and the venue's setup window all change the amount of labour. Ceiling draping needs rigging points and the venue's approval, and some rooms need a lift. A hotel ballroom that opens at 8 am is a very different job from a community hall we can enter at 4 pm for a 5:30 start.
5. Date and season
Saturdays from May to October are the busiest wedding days of the year in Edmonton, so they carry a higher minimum order. Fridays, Sundays and the quieter months give you more flexibility.
6. Distance
Delivery is included within 35 km of Edmonton, which covers St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Beaumont and Leduc. Further out, including Stony Plain, Fort Saskatchewan, Camrose and Red Deer, a travel fee is shown in your quote before you book.
7. Timing
Booking less than 7 days out adds a 15% rush fee, and with less than 72 hours to go we take requests by phone or text only. Takedown after 11 pm adds a late-teardown fee, but next-morning pickup is free if your venue allows it.
From a single backdrop to a full-room transformation
- Small celebrations (first birthdays, baptism lunches, showers): usually one backdrop with a garland, a styled cake table and a name or number decal. See our birthday and baptism packages.
- Engagements and mid-size weddings: a ceremony arch or reception backdrop, sweetheart or head table styling, centrepieces and an entrance. See our wedding packages.
- Ballroom weddings and multi-day celebrations: draped, starlight or floral ceilings, a grand stage, statement entrances and fresh florals on every table. See our Grand Collection.
How to save without it looking like you did
- Put fresh flowers where people look closest, like the sweetheart table or the arch, and use styled centrepieces on guest tables.
- Mix tall and low centrepieces. Tall pieces on every other table read as abundant, and low pieces fill the rest.
- Consider a Friday or Sunday, especially between May and October.
- Book early enough to skip the rush fee, and ask your venue about next-morning pickup.
- Let one piece do two jobs. A ceremony arch can often move behind the sweetheart table for the reception; ask us whether your timeline allows it.
